Insurgent Summary
By Bre Eason
After Tris and Tobias shut down the stimulation serum, they took some of the Dauntless members who aren’t traitors to the Amity Compound for safety and help. When they reached Amity, a girl named Johanna greeted them at the front gates. Johanna was able to grant them permission to stay one night at the Amity Compound, but she wasn’t going to be able to grant them full permission to stay as long as they would like, so, she told them that the people of Amity would have to take a vote to decide if they can stay for longer. Johanna also told them that if they were to stay at the Amity Compound, she would have to confiscate all of their weapons (weapons weren’t allowed in Amity because Amity was a place for peace, not violence and conflict). Everyone handed Johanna their weapons, except for Tris. Tris wanted to make sure that if the Dauntless Traitors were to attack, she would have a weapon to protect herself with. When Tris went to bed that night, all she could think about was when she was at the Abnegation Compound the night of the attack, when she shot Will in the head and killed him. But, she eventually fell asleep. The next day, all the people of Amity gathered together to decide Tris and the rest of the Dauntless member’s fate. They were either going to let them stay in the Amity Compound, or make them leave. Thankfully though, the people of Amity granted them permission to stay. The next day, some of the Dauntless Traitors came to the Amity Compound looking for the Divergent. So, all of the Dauntless who were staying at Amity had to dress up like the Amity in order to not be recognized by the Dauntless Traitors. The Dauntless Traitors who came to Amity held a meeting with everyone in the compound to look for the Divergent. But as the meeting went on, Tris had to blow their cover because if she didn’t, one of the Dauntless Traitors would’ve shot Peter (Peter is one of the Dauntless initiates). So, since Tris blew their cover, all of the Dauntless who were staying at Amity decided to go to the Dauntless Compound to get away from the Dauntless Traitors. While they were staying at the Dauntless Compound, Jeanine Mathews (Jeanine is a former Erudite initiate, but she is now the leader of the Erudite Compound) made the announcement that she needed one of the Divergent to come to the Erudite Compound, and she threatened them that every night that no one comes to the Erudite Compound, she will kill three people. After that announcement, Tobias made Tris promise to not go to the Erudite Compound. Even though Tris promised him she wouldn’t go, she sneaked off during the night and went anyways. Tris cared more about other people’s lives than her own, so she sacrificed herself to Jeanine so that her friends wouldn’t die. When Tris arrived at the Erudite Compound, Dauntless Traitors captured her and put her in a small room where she would be staying for as long as she was in the Erudite Compound. Tris found out that Peter had turned into a Dauntless Traitor and was now working with Jeanine. The next day is when they started testing stimulation serums on Tris. Jeanine wanted to create a serum that could control the Divergent (since the serums didn’t work properly on the Divergent). A couple days has past and Jeanine hasn’t been able to create a serum that would work on the Divergent. So, since Jeanine wasn’t making any progress with Tris, she decided to move her execution date to the next day. When Tris found out that her execution date had been moved to the next day, she started to worry that Tobias wasn’t going to come and save her. Tris was almost positive that when she left the Dauntless Compound, Tobias would find out and come and save her. But the next day¸ the day of Tris’s execution, she found out that Tobias had come to get her but he had been captured by the Dauntless Traitors. When it was time for Tris to be executed, Peter escorted her to the execution room. But, apparently, Peter had switched out the Death Serum with a serum that only temporarily paralyzes you. So, Peter had saved Tris from getting killed. While Peter was saving Tris, Tobias had escaped from the Dauntless Traitors. So, since Tris was paralyzed and she couldn’t walk temporarily, Tobias carried Tris back to the Dauntless Compound. After Tris wasn’t paralyzed anymore, she and Tobias went to the factionless to see if they would help Tris and Tobias build an army to attack Jeanine Mathews and the Dauntless Traitors. While they were visiting the Factionless, Tris and Tobias found out that Tobias’s mother, Evelyn, had gone to live with the Factionless. The Factionless agreed to build an army with them so they went to the Abnegation Compound (along with Tris and Tobias, and the other Dauntless at the Dauntless compound) to start planning their attack. When everyone went to attack, Tris decided that she was going to stay behind in the Abnegation Compound, but really, she was going to work behind Tobias’s back, and work with his Father, Marcus, and plan to kill Jeanine themselves. So, Tris and Marcus went to the Erudite Compound to start their plan to kill Jeanine. When Tris was making her way to the Erudite control room, (which is where Tris would find Jeanine) Tris got trapped in a room full of poisonous gas. So, she started to hallucinate and she was fighting to get to the door in time. Thankfully, she made it to the door, and when she opened it, she found Jeanine. Tris was ready to kill her but then Tris thought that Jeanine could have some valuable information so she wasn’t going to kill her just yet. But, Tori had come in the control room as well and before Tris could stop her, Tori had killed Jeanine. Then, some of the Factionless had come to escort them downstairs. While they were walking downstairs, Tris had noticed that all of the Factionless had confiscated every ones weapons and that each Factionless person had a weapon of some sort. So when they got downstairs, Tris saw all of the people who had died during the attack. Then that’s when it happened. When they were least expecting it, the Factionless took over and no one had any weapons to defend themselves. Tobias had gone upstairs and grabbed a hard drive, which he brought downstairs and plugged it in. On the hard drive, was a video. A girl named Edith Prior introduced herself and told them about what’s outside the fence, and that they needed their help.
